Objectives:

  1. Using background, pathophysiology, and risk models for breast cancer-related lymphedema (BCRL) , analyze the imperative to shift from an impairment-based model to a preventive, prospective surveillance approach.
  2. Identify and discuss modalities for both screening and diagnosing BCRL.
  3. Examine newer lymphatic microsurgical approaches to lymphedema and discuss ongoing clinical trials for lymphedema risk reduction.
